OPPO launched its budget phone, OPPO A33, on September 28, 2020, in India. Oppo has been known for its solid presence in the premium smartphone market. But it has been making some adjustments in its production line to cater to all market segments. The smartphone maker designed the A33 as a mid-range device – offered at a competitive price – to tap into the vast market around the world. So, what can you expect from this phone?

OPPO A33 (2020): Price

OPPO A33 was launched in Indonesia alongside the OPPO A53. At around $150, the company sort to offer customers an affordable smartphone that promises a great user experience and a longer battery life. For that price range, the Oppo A33 performs exceptionally well. Currently, it’s offered in two colors – Moonlight Black and Mint Cream.

As of this writing, the phone is available in the Asian market. Its global availability is yet to be confirmed.

OPPO A33 comes with a 6.5-inch display featuring a 90Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The display is fitted with IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen technology that provides a resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels and 259 PPI density.

Memory

OPPO A33 (2020) is offered in two versions; 3GB RAM or 4GB RAM with 32GB storage capacity. This allows you to store movies, music, and documents on your phone without requiring additional space. But, if you ever need more storage space, the memory is expandable via a MicroSD slot that supports up to 128GB. The 4GB RAM is not expandable. But given that you won’t be using the phone for heavy tasks anyway, it’s still an impressive feature. Plus, if you want a phone that will perform heavy tasks like gaming, you’d go for one with better specs.

Processor

The OPPO A33 2020 is powered by Qualcomm SM 4250 Snapdragon 460. It runs on the Android 10 operating system with ColorOS 7.2 UI. It is fitted with an Octa-core CPU with a speed of 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 240 & 4×1.6 GHz Kryo 240. The Oppo A33 smartphone uses the Adreno 610 GPU, and it is a dual-SIM smartphone that accepts Nano Sim cards. The A33’s firmware can be upgraded to a newer version of the operating system whenever it’s available.

Camera

Oppo phones have been known for exceptional cameras, and the A33 doesn’t disappoint. Fitted with Triple AI Camera technology, it captures images with impressive quality. At the back, the triple camera is sitting on a rectangular tray and comprises a 13 megapixel, f/2.2 aperture wide main camera, a 2-megapixel, f/2.4 aperture macro shooter camera, and a 2-megapixel f/2.4 aperture depth sensor camera. The smartphone camera also features an LED flash, HDR, and panorama, and you can take 1080p videos at 30fps. At the front, A33 allows you to take quality selfies with its single 8MP wide camera. The camera also features a Portrait Bokeh mode, plus an array of filters to make your shots as bright and lively as possible.

Battery

The A33 comes loaded with a 5000mAh non-removal battery that is set to provide longer usage times. The company claims this is a low maintenance battery that doesn’t require periodic discharge. This means that you can top up the battery whenever you like. It also supports fast charging to quickly boost your phone.

Additional Features

The OPPO A33 smartphone comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, which has become a standard security feature on modern phones. It also comes with stereo loudspeakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack for entertainment on the go. The A33, like most smartphones, is equipped with a Proximity sensor that detects when a user is holding a phone near the face during a call and turns off the display to prevent accidental keypad presses. Oppo A33 is 3G and 4G capable. It has a built-in GPS receiver that allows users to determine the proximity and direction of various geographical locations anywhere in the world. More connectivity options are available via Bluetooth 5.0, and it uses USB Type C 2.0 and USB On-The-Go.
