The world of technology is moving fast and phone companies have to upgrade their gadgets every year to keep up with the competition. One brand that has been at the forefront of releasing amazing devices is Samsung. Recently, Samsung launched the Galaxy A52 5G smartphone, which gives you access to a new range of features that you’d normally expect to see on high-end phones. Given that Samsung Galaxy A51 was the best-selling smartphone of 2020, should you consider buying the new Galaxy A52 5G? What does it have to offer? Let’s find out.

Samsung Galaxy A52 5G: Design and Build
Samsung has a wide range of popular smartphones. From Samsung Galaxy S21 and the entire S series to the value for money Galaxy M series, you can’t go wrong with a Samsung phone. The A52 5G, is eye-catching from every angle. Right off the bat, you can tell that the material is not metal and glass, like Galaxy S21. It’s plastic, but it doesn’t feel cheap.
In fact, if you hold it in your hands, it feels durable and more sturdy in a way that glass phones don’t. Keep in mind that the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G shares the same name and design as the Galaxy A52. At the back, you can hear a plasticky hollow sound when you tap the cover. Plus, you can clearly see some space where the plastic meets. It’s in these areas that dust and whatnot get stuck.
However, this shouldn’t put you off. The phone features a 120Hz OLED panel like the pricier Samsung Galaxy phones. You also get a 2400 x 1080p resolution. The high refresh rate means that it’s a lot smoother when scrolling or playing games. The OLED technology gives it clear, crisp, and bright images, even without HDR support.
At the back, the camera module is protruding slightly and is wrapped by the back panel which is molded around it. You may not like the surface since it attracts sweat and smudges quite easily.
However, what may get your attention is the array of colors to choose from. There are four in total: Awesome Violet, Awesome Black, Awesome Blue, and Awesome White.
The phone comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type-C port. At the bottom, you also get the primary microphone and speaker. On the right side, you get the volume and power buttons while the left side is completely blank.
Despite what you might term as shortcomings, the Galaxy A52 has an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. So you don’t have to worry about the phone slipping into a shallow pool of water.
Samsung Galaxy A52 5G: Camera
A good camera is what most people look for when buying a smartphone. With the A52 5G, you get four cameras at the back: a 64MP main sensor with OIS capable of capturing 16MP images and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor. The other two comprise a 5MP macro and depth sensor. At the front, you get a 32 MP selfie camera.
The addition of the OIS (optical image stabilization) and scene optimizer do a great job of improving the picture quality, especially low-light shots. The camera can capture 4K videos at 30fps or 1080p footage at 60fps. The shake-free feature (OIS) comes in handy when recording video.
Samsung Galaxy A52 5G: Performance
The Samsung A52 5G smartphone comes fitted with Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G chipset with 5G. This processor gives the phone supreme capabilities that you’d not expect at the price. Apps load fast and even graphic-intensive games play without issues.
The phone offers up to 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage, expandable via a Micro SD card slot. Even the Galaxy S21 doesn’t offer expandable storage or a headphone jack and, surprisingly, it’s cheaper phones that seem to offer these features.
The advantage of using a Samsung phone is that its software is compatible with most Samsung gear. For instance, you can easily pair it with Smart Tag, Buds Pro, and other accessories. The issue of bloatware is no longer an issue with this phone since you have the option not to install apps that you don’t want. However, the phone comes with duplication of apps, with Samsung offering its own messaging, contacts, and browser apps. Luckily, you can switch to Google apps with ease for more convenience.
Samsung Galaxy A52 5G: Battery
At 4500mAh, the Galaxy A52 5G battery offers good endurance. Even with the 120Hz display, the battery performs exceptionally well. On average, a single charge can last you through the day, even if you’re a heavy user. An average user can go for as long as two days before recharging.
The phone comes with a 15w charger (and can support up to 25w) but lacks wireless charging. On the other hand, Galaxy A72, which was launched alongside the A52 5G, comes with a bigger 6.7-inch display and an even larger 5,000mAh battery for an extra $20.
Samsung Galaxy A52 5G: Price
The new Samsung Galaxy costs start at around $419, depending on where you’re buying. Considering the features it brings to the table, we can conclude that it’s a pretty decent phone for that price.
