Oppo Reno5 5G: Design and Display
Oppo Reno 5 5G is sleek and classy, with a premium look. It doesn’t feel heavy and fits perfectly into your hand. It sports a cute shimmering effect, courtesy of the “Reno Glow” technique. The power button has a distinctive green line across it, which adds to its chic looks.
At the bottom of the phone, you get a microphone, USB-C port, SIM tray, and a speaker grille. On the left-hand side, you get the volume buttons, perfectly located for one-hand use. At the top, there’s an innovative color-shifting finish plate with the words “Designed for Reno” engraved. You also get a second microphone. It lacks a headphone jack, meaning you have to resort to wireless headphones to enjoy your favorite playlist.
The phone comes with a 6-5-inch 3D curved Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It supports a 180Hz touch sampling rate for faster response time. The display has an HDR10+ certification, meaning you can enjoy a great viewing experience on YouTube, Amazon Prime, and Netflix.
The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and you get an HD film screen protector direct from the factory as a nice gesture. The selfie camera punch hole is situated in the top left corner of the screen, while the fingerprint scanner is at the bottom side of the display. With thin bezels all around, Reno 5 5G maintains a modern, exquisite design overall. For its size and large battery, the phone weighs only 176 grams. All that magnificent hardware is packed inside a 7.6mm thick casing.
Oppo Reno5 5G: Performance and Battery
Oppo Reno5 5G runs on Media Tek Dimensity 1000+ processor, which going by the benchmark, has a sizeable performance lead over Snapgradon 765 nd Snapdragon 750. In fact, benchmark scores place it right next to the Snapdragon 865 performance. This is a 7nm platform with eight cores, ARM Mali-G77 MC9 GPU, and a 5G modem.
The phone performs well in almost everything you throw at it and handles games with surprising stability, although it may heat a little. The Game Space feature lets you tweak a few settings to further enhance performance and maximize battery life.
Battery capacity is bumped up to 4350mAh, which is large enough to last from sunrise to bedtime on a full charge. Of course, this will depend on the usage and applications you’re running. You also get battery-saving modes to stretch battery life even further. Other nice features include Optimized night charging that helps increase battery longevity and Sleep standby optimization, which delays notification until right when you wake up in the morning.
Oppo Reno5 5G excels in ultra-fast charging, with a 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 charging, which can pump up the battery from zero to full charge in 30 minutes! A quick 15-minute boost is enough to get your phone to 70 percent, which should take you the whole day.
Oppo Reno5 5G: Cameras
Oppo Reno5 5G camera performance is on the right level, depending on your photography needs. It has a 64MP main camera at the back along with an 8MP wide-angle lens, 2MP macro module, and 2MP monochrome lens. Selfie fans get a 32MP front camera.
The Reno 5 5G camera boasts several video-focused innovations, such as AI Highlight video, which applies reset algorithms based on light conditions. Then there’s the Full Dimension Fusion (FDF) portrait video system. According to Oppo, these two features allow for better granular control in dark, dim light environments as well as in bright and high contrast conditions.
The AI auto selects color vibrancy and the correct highlights, ensuring proper exposure of the objects you wish to capture. Other features include Dual-view Video, Ultra Steady Video, and AI Color Portrait. The main camera can capture slow motion at 960fps, while the selfie camera can record slow-motion videos at 240fps. Night-time photographers can use Ultra Night Selfie Mode, Ultra Dark Mode, Night Flare Portrait, and Tripod Mode to get the most out of the images.
Overall, the images captured by Oppo Reno5 5G have plenty of detail, impressive dynamic range, and excellent contrast levels.
