If you live in a region with a damp, maritime climate, investing in a good dehumidifier will ensure that you remove moisture from the air and improve the quality of the air you breathe. One of the well-known brands is Meaco, and the new Meaco Arete One Dehumidifier is one of the quietest we’ve reviewed. Featuring a clean design, this appliance easily fits into your home without attracting unnecessary attention.
Price and Availability
The Meaco Arete One Dehumidifier and Air Purifier is available in the UK in two sizes; 20L and 25L, priced at £259.99 and £299.
Design and Features
Seldom do you come across a good-looking dehumidifier like MeacoDry Arete One. Sporting a stunning white color, the Arete One is aesthetically beautiful and can easily blend in with your home décor.
Its face doesn’t have any visual distractions, and even the integrated wheels are out of sight. The design allows you to push the dehumidifier as close to the wall as you want since the air is projected out the back but sideward, rather than right into the wall, unlike most dehumidifiers.
The Arete One features a new control panel with a simplified layout. The one-touch controls allow you to configure the target relative humidity. When the unit is running, it shows the current humidity level.
The dehumidifier turns itself off when it hits the target humidity and then turns on automatically every 30 minutes to check humidity levels. It turns on permanently if it needs to remove moisture from the air.
The Arete One comes with a large 4.8L water tank, meaning it doesn’t need regular emptying unless there’s a lot of moisture in the room. The integrated removable bucket, which catches the water from the air, features a clear-view window that lets you see the water level. The bucket has an integrated handle that makes it easy to pour water without spilling it all over.
The placement of the water tank is very convenient and has a light on the control panel that illuminates to remind you to empty it. The tank pops out of the machine with ease, and the handle lets you easily carry it to the sink. The tank features two apertures on either side, so you can pour out water from either corner.
The Arete One also comes with a hose adapter for continuous water drainage. This is ideal if you plan to use the appliance in a vacant property, garage, or an area that you won’t be visiting often. However, you’ll need to purchase the hose separately.
The unit is designed to help dry your laundry on hanging lines. You can set the standard mode or laundry mode, depending on your preferences. When set to laundry mode, it sets the target humidity to 35 percent and runs for a maximum of six hours.
This model comes with two fan speeds: high and low, although the machine will automatically pick which one to use, starting out on high and moving to low. When set to night mode, the Meaco Arete One turns off the screen, and the fan goes to low speed.
The rate of water extraction depends on your configurations. For example, at 20 degrees Celcius and 60 percent, the dehumidifier can remove 8.5 liters of water per day. At 10 degrees Celcius and 60 percent, it removes 3.4 liters of water per day.
Your configurations also affect the power requirements. Going with our example above, the first setting draws 211W while the second requires 179W. When set to maximum, the Arete One uses 235W power.
When buying a dehumidifier, one of the major concerns is the noise level. The Meaco Arete One excels in terms of quietness, running at only 40dB, which the company claims is twice as quiet as the industry standard.
The low noise means you can use it in your bedroom and sleep through it.
The Arete One also acts as an air purifier. To turn it into an air purifier, press and hold the humidity button to activate the fan-only mode. It is equipped with an optional medical grade H13 HEPA filter that’s 75 percent larger than the one used in the Meaco Low Enegry model.
The filter is fitted behind a honeycomb-patterned slide-away panel on the rear side of the appliance for ease of accessibility when replacing it.
The Meaco Arete One Dehumidifier and Air Purifier has become quite popular in most British homes. It’s highly functional and reliably gets the job done. You don’t need to know about the extraction rates or operate a complicated control panel.
All you have to do is press a button, and it takes over. What’s more, it comes with wheels so you can easily move it to your desired room or location. Plus, you don’t need to keep checking the water tank, thanks to the clear-view display that shows you the level of the water. If that’s not enough, a button lights up when the water tank needs emptying.
